My favorite season on the year has arrived! And to celebrate, I’m so excited to be participating in another project challenge: The Spring Stencil Challenge x 8.
In December I had the opportunity to join 8 other talented and creative bloggers for the Holiday Crate x 10 Challenge, and today I’m honored to join a fantastic group of amazing ladies again for a brand new spring project.
The Spring Stencil Challenge
The challenge: A spring-themed stencil.
The “rules”: Get creative, imaginative, and have fun.
Since the challenge happens on our daughter’s birthday, I knew right away I wanted to use my stencil to create something special for her. And because we moved into a new house just two days ago, creating something for her new bedroom was the perfect place to display the project.
Her love of flowers and the spring season was the perfect springboard for a sweet wall-hanging to encourage her to “Bloom where she is planted”.
I started with canvas fabric and fabric paints coordinating with the colors of her bedding. Once the stencil was in place, she helped me choose which colors to use for each element of the stencil.

After the stencil was dry, I cut the canvas, allowing a 1-1/2 inch border along the bottom and sides, and a 2-1/2 inch border across the top.
Next, I pressed the edges under 1/2-inch and glued them in place using all-purpose craft glue, and made a 1-inch sleeve for the top.
Bright, colorful ribbon made the perfect border for the sides and bottom edges. I chose a wide ruffled pink ribbon for the background and topped it with a glittery green ribbon, then glued them to the sides and bottom edge.
A few paper flowers arranged throughout the project added dimension and the connection I wanted to create with her bedding.
Next, I added a 1/2″ dowel cut to length, threaded through the top sleeve, and attached wooden knobs to the ends.
A final length of green ribbon, attached with hot glue to create a hanger, and a couple of bright pink bows finished it up, and it was ready to hang on her wall.
I love how it adds a little more floral charm to her room and will be a cheerful reminder to her every day to be the best she can be – right where she is.
This was such a fun project and I’m honored to be sharing it with 7 other creative bloggers. Go by and see the awesome projects each of them have created using this very same stencil:
